Write Your Wedding Vows on Your Own to Be More Personal & Romantic

Wedding vows refer to the special words and the promises that are made by a bride and groom to each other at their wedding ceremony to get married. The form of the vows that are made by the couples who are wedding differ according to the place or country in which they are made.

There are multiple traditional wedding vows such as :

I, (Bride or Groom), take you (Groom or Bride), to be my (wife or husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.

I, ____, take you, ____, to be my (husband/wife). I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

After saying these special words by the couple, the priest or wedding officiant pronounces them as a husband and wife to announce that they are officially married and can kiss each other.

It is not necessary for you to follow these traditional wedding vows because you can simply make yours and write them on your own to make them more personal. In order to be able to write good wedding vows, you have to follow the coming tips that will help you and show you how to do that without the need to follow the traditional wedding vows that we used to hear.

♦ Give yourself enough time: Wedding vows require creativity and inspiration, so you will need to start writing your vows early enough before your wedding day. It means that you will need from 4 to 5 months and may be more to give yourself the chance to think and write your special words. It will be a great idea to share writing the vows with your partner.

♦ Look for inspiration: In order to be inspired, you can remember the happiest moments that you spent with your partner, look at the photos that gather both of you, read your partner’s messages and other things that can create a brain storm, move your emotions and help you to write your special words.

♦ Do not forget harmony: While you are writing your vows, you have to bear in mind that there are some features which should be considered such as harmony, length, tone, cohesion and style. You have to decide the tone of your vows to be serious, spiritual, sweet, playful or romantic. The length of the vows varies as they may be written in several paragraphs, one paragraph or just few sentences. Whatever the length is, you have to make your vows natural.

♦ Ask for help: If there is any problem and find that you need help, you can ask your officiant to provide you with the needed advice.

♦ Practice reading or reciting: After finishing writing your vows, you have to practice reading them in order not to find that they are difficult to be read or to make mistakes when you say them at your wedding ceremony. It will be better for you to recite your vows at your wedding ceremony instead of reading them in front of your partner. Reciting the vows will allow you to look at your partner while making your promises which will give you the chance to completely feel the words that you say and it will be more romantic.

If you want to surprise your partner, you can keep your vows unknown to him\her until your wedding day. They will be more impressive.
