Weird Peacocks Wear Wedding Dresses

Peacock is one of the most beautiful birds on the earth. It is known a long time ago and considered by aristocratic people and royal families as a special bird that should exist in their palaces for its beauty and bright colors of its plumage. Peacocks are also called peafowl and they are known for their eye-spotted tail that looks fabulous when it is displayed. But do you know that the peacocks display their colored plumage as a part of courtship? You may do not know that. Peacocks refer to the male peafowl while the females are called peahens and their young offspring are called peachicks.

We used to see the peacocks that have colorful plumage and look fascinated when we see this tail displayed, but did you hear anything about white peafowl before or did you see it? The eye-spotted peafowl are the most known and the most common species for most of us but there are also white peafowl. The white peafowl especially the peacocks look like a bride in her wedding dress. They are really marvelous and breathtaking.

Some people consider these white peafowl as albinos because they are white and thought to have lack of colors if they are compared to the most common species, but in fact they are not and this is because they do not have red or pink eyes like the albino animals and birds. The white peafowl or as they are commonly known white peacocks have blue eyes and when they are born, they look yellow but after that their color changes to be white.

There is another species for peacocks and they are half blue and half white. The tail that is displayed in front of us is for the male peafowl which means the peacock, while the female peafowl or the peahen does not have this fanned tail. The tail of the peacock is called train and when it is displayed, it looks like a fan. For the peacock, its tail that is fanned or displayed behind him functions like your hand when you cup it behind your ears. It means that the peacock uses its tail and fans it to direct the sound to his ears.

What a Great Creator Who created such a breathtaking bird!
