♦ Play with good players: You will not benefit from playing with other chess players who are worse than you, because you will be able to easily beat them without exerting any effort. Instead of playing with bad chess players, play those who are better than you and it is not necessary to beat them but what is more important is to know how they play and use this against them. Be more social and join a local chess club to benefit from others’ experiences and  techniques.

♦ Discover the importance of each piece: It is necessary for you to know the importance and value of each piece in order not to sacrifice important pieces and others quickly for nothing.

♦ Constant development for knights and bishops: Moving pawns from their place makes it easy for your opponent to attack and beat you. For this reason, it is important for you to keep developing your knights and bishops in order not to allow your opponent to put a bishop through the pawn structure that is dedicated to you.

♦ Methods of playing: There are two major methods for playing chess; the first one is to defend and protect your king from being attacked, while the other one is to make use of the mistakes that are made by your opponent. Most of the chess players believe that attacking is easier than defending.

♦ Endgame rules: It is essential for you to know the basic endgame rules such as exchanging pawns and pieces.

♦ Learn pawns’ structures: There are powerful and weak pawn structures that should be learnt in order to know how to play and what to do to avoid losing the game.

♦ Reading books: You can learn the techniques of playing chess through playing perfect chess players and through reading books that show you how to attack, how to benefit from other’s mistakes, types of endings and other techniques and strategies for playing chess.
