Santiago de Compostela derailment in Spain on July 24, 2013 led to the death of 80 passengers and the injury of 140.

Lac-Mégantic derailment in Canada on July 6, 2013. This accident is the fourth deadliest one in Canada as it led to the death of 42 persons, missing 5 persons who were considered to be dead, explosion of several tank cars and the destruction of 30 buildings.
