The Red Panda resembles the Raccoons, but the red panda weight could be 7 to 14 pounds and its length is about 42 inches; the tail could be 11 to 23 inches. Its color is red and white and these colors are blending with the white lichens and red mosses which grow on the trees where they live. It has a bushy long tail,their bushy long tails are helpful for them to keep their balance on the tree, they also could cover their body with the tail in winter. Their entire bodies are covered with soft dense fur even the soles of their feet; they have short black legs. These Pandas have bony small projections on their wrists which help them hold bamboo stalks.
They primarily eat fresh shoots and bamboo leaves, they also eat bird eggs, blossom, berries and small leaves of various plants. The new-born Panda stays in the nest close to his mother about 90 days and it reaches the adult size at 12 months. The number of Pandas that exist are less than 10,000 adult red panda.
The red Pandas are generally quiet except some tweeting or whistling communication sounds. They sleep on the branches of the trees during the day and increase in activity during afternoon and early evening hours. They also can clean their bodies like cats, they rub their paws, sides, bellies, stomach and backs. They search for food while running on trees or the ground and use their forepaws to move the food to their mouths.
