His name is Ahmed Hassan Zewail, born on 26 February 1946 in Damnhour, Egypt. He received his bachelor in science and MS from the university of Alexandria, then he moves to Pennsylvania to complete his PhD. He is an Egyptian scientist who is known as ” The father of femtochemistry”. In 1999, he won the Nobel prize in chemistry for his work on the femtochemistry, he is the first Egyptian person who won the Nobel prize in a scientific field. He is a Professor of Physics and the director of the Physical Biology Center for the Ultra-fast Science and Technology at the California Institute of Technology.
In 1982, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He has been nominated and will participate in President Barack Obama’s Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), it is a group of the nation’s leading scientists and engineers who come to advise the President and Vice President and formulate policy in the areas of science, technology, and innovations.
