Back in the early days of aviation, the idea of going around the world in 80 days tended to remain something of a pipedream, even if the miracle of flight had brought an unparalleled opportunity to the masses. Though it was a gradual process from only the wealthy having the ability to travel to the modern package holidays available for all, it’s still something to be proud of in terms of progress.
Take lawyer Dan Nguyen for instance, who was able to travel the world with his three cats – no mean feat by any measure, even with our modern means of travel. It transpires that not only could you fly around the world in much fewer days than 80, but you could also do it 40 times over.
Unlike most things in life, however, traveling isn’t about the journey but the destination. Sure, the journey is always better if it’s comfortable and enjoyable, but travelers will find more joy in where their journey takes them rather than the journey itself.

Despite the difficult recent history of some of those nations, you’ll find friendly, open people in all of them.
Then we get to Africa. Let’s say you’ve spent around 15 days in each continent so far and you have around 20 days left. Well, you’re absolutely spoiled for choice in terms of safaris. Not to mention the multitude of vibrant cities full of life across this diverse continent. From the deserts of Morocco to the savannahs of South Africa, there’s a lot more to this continent than what reports would have you believe.
To think we haven’t even mentioned Australia and New Zealand either. I guess this proves that going around the world in 80 days is possible, but why would you limit yourself to 80 days?
