All the stars which you see with your naked eyes in the night sky, are belonging to the Milky Way Galaxy. Stars are giant shining spheres of hot gas which are made of hydrogen, smaller amounts of helium, and trace amounts of other elements.

2. Canopus: the second brightest star in the sky.

3. Rigel Kentaurus or Alpha Centauri: it is the third brightest star in the sky.

4. Arcturus: it is the fourth brightest star in the entire sky and the brightest star in the constellation Bootes.

9. Achernar: it is the ninth brightest star and it is a bluish-white  super giant star. It is about 69 light years from Earth.

10. Betelgeuse: it is the tenth brightest star in the sky. It is a red super giant star that about 13,000 times brighter than the sun and over 1000 times larger.

  • Distance: ~1400 LY
